Gilad Erdan, Minister of Environmental Protection of Israel

May 11, 2011
The Honorable Gilad Erdan
Minister of Environmental Protection

Dear Mr. Minister,
I have been informed by the International Anti-Fur Coalition (IAFC) that the bill introduced by MK Ronit Tirosh to ban the fur trade in Israel has been delayed once again. However, I am delighted that your bill to protect wild animals includes a ban on fur as well.
On behalf of compassionate people everywhere, I urge you to give your full attention to advance these vital and groundbreaking bills and speak up for the millions of animals who are bludgeoned, beaten, electrocuted, and even skinned alive for their pelts each year. After watching just a few moments of the IAFC footage, you will see that the ways in which animals suffer and die in the fur trade violate Jewish principles, which strictly prohibit causing unnecessary suffering to animals.
By setting this precedent and banning a cruel and needless industry, Israel would provide a shining example of care and compassion for others to follow.
I hope that you will use your great influence and this amazing opportunity to spread a message of love and justice for all living beings. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely yours,
Pamela Anderson
