Coco de Mer - WWD

LONDON — Coco de Mer has tapped Rankin to shoot the brand’s latest film, and has named Pamela Anderson its international brand ambassador, WWD has learned.

“I have a real attraction to Coco de Mer, which produces such beautiful lingerie,” said Anderson. “I appreciate the way that Lucy [Litwack, chief executive officer of Coco De Mer] and her team have developed the Coco de Mer philosophy; it is so complementary to my own. The designs are always seductive, luxurious and fashion relevant. This has been an inspiring experience, and I am really excited about future collaborations with Coco de Mer.”

Anderson features in the movie by Rankin and his creative agency The Full Service. The seductive short film, which was shot in London, features Anderson at her apartment as she gets ready for Valentine’s Day and wears several styles from the Gaia summer 2017 range.

“Our intention was clear from the beginning,” Rankin said of the campaign. “You associate lingerie brands with Valentine’s Day the way you associate certain brands with Christmas and Easter. We wanted to subvert that, and play with expectations — to do something different but humorous. Coco de Mer got it straight away; it’s testament to them that they were willing to go for it. And once Pamela was on board, we knew we were on to something.”

Rankin said that Anderson continually challenges herself and those around her. “A true intellectual and a joy to work with. For me and all my crew. She wanted to challenge herself, to make a statement, and you could see everyone feed off that on set, which made her ideal for Coco de Mer. The Full Service wanted to create something that played with people’s perceptions of Valentine’s Day. It’s a punchy move from Coco de Mer, but is testament to the brand and the powerhouse creativity of The Full Service’s concept that everyone was totally up for it.”

This is the second time that the British photographer has worked with the lingerie brand. They had partnered before, working on an erotic short film in 2015.

Launched in 2001 by Debbie Sim, Sam Roddick — daughter of The Body Shop founder Anita Roddick — and Adae Elena Amats, the boutique is located in Covent Garden and the collection is sold at Harrods. The company sells lingerie, loungewear, bedroom toys and edible massage oils, among other items. The film will be shown in the Covent Garden store window and during a private view of the Sotheby’s Erotic exhibition on Valentine’s Day.

“We wanted to think about Valentine’s Day in a different way,” said Litwack. “It’s about women taking control. Moving away from stereotypes and allowing each and every woman to own Valentine’s Day, without worrying whether they have a partner. At the end of the day, no one knows you better than you. So explore your deepest desires, surrender to your pleasure and gain true erotic empowerment. Liberate Valentine’s Day and leave yourself breathless.”

She said Anderson’s desire to empower women to achieve pleasure “marries perfectly with Coco de Mer’s belief that your ultimate erotic experience is yet to come.”

Litwack noted that after 15 years of selling exclusively through their own channels, they are now carried at Selfridges, Harrods and on Matchesfashion.com, with plans to sell internationally with this collection in the near future. In addition, she said the brand is currently in the process of designing a co-branded collection with Anderson for spring 2018.

'I hope Melania will wear it!' Pamela Anderson tells RT of Russian-made eco-fur coat for first lady

US actress and animal rights activist Pamela Anderson has told RT about a special gift she has prepared for America's new first lady, Melania Trump – a coat that is "as warm" as a fur coat, but is at the same time animal-friendly.

Anderson has teamed up with "two wonderful boys" in Russia to create something "glamorous," and raising environmental awareness. As a result of the "wonderful collaboration," a collection of coats made of eco-fur has been created.

"I've been wearing them all over the place and people always come up to me and tell me how they love it," the actress told RT, adding that the coats "give you a glamorous feeling."

Having decided to share the feeling with someone who might share it even further, Pamela Anderson has come up with the idea to dress the wife of the new US president.

"It's just good timing to make her [Melania Trump] something special," Anderson said, adding that she hopes the new first lady "is going to be a role model for people."

"Ralph Lauren dressed her for the inauguration, and he doesn't have any fur in his collection. So, I thought that maybe she'd appreciate it," she said, while also pointing out that "it's very glamorous to wear eco-fur now."

Custom-made in Russia, the coat was produced of recycled materials. It's "just as warm" as real fur, according to Anderson, who also shared some of the outerwear's other benefits.

"It's much less expensive and you can wash it at home in a washing machine," she told RT, adding, "I hope she'll wear it! It's gorgeous, it's made with her in mind. She is a beautiful woman and sure she'll wear it somewhere and we'll get to see it."

The actress, who is now all into environmental issues, also expressed her hopes that other women would follow suit and choose their outfits "much more compassionately."

"That's evolution," she said.

Saying that she "loves going to Russia," Pamela Anderson has shared how she has "been a few times to the country to speak about environment." The love from Russian authorities is mutual, she said.

"I feel that they are very sincere and have a lot of great ideas about protecting the environment, especially in Russia. But I encourage them to influence other countries," she said, adding that she finds Russian officials and activists to be "forward-thinking."

"We've created animal welfare laws all over the world and I find it that Russia is very, very important right now. Everyone is looking to Russia for these types of things as well," she said.

Back in the US, the actress-turned-activist also has plans for another Trump family member, "to make a difference." Anderson told RT she had invited Donald Trump's oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., on a trip to Africa.

She has already chosen a sanctuary for elephants to visit with the president's son, to make him think twice about one of his hobbies.

"Maybe our trip will encourage him to look at conservation and animals in the wild, and respect them. I hope he will stop trophy hunting and hunting in general. There are ways we can try and encourage people to do different things," she said.

The Year of the Environment - Russia RT interview

Animals are not ours to abuse for our entertainment, what we wear and what we eat-

It is more elegant to dress compassionately these days- it is tres chic..

I understand there was a time there were less options- and there may have been no choice to wear an animal skin for warmth in certain climates- esp in Russia-

but now there is an alternative that is just as warm, just as soft, less expensive and you can wash these coats at home in the washing machine and dry in the dryer-

I encourage you to try these new coats, I hope you love them- I have been wearing mine and feel very glamorous and conscious -

It is also not necessary to capture dolphins and whales- for aquariums- Marine life belongs in the ocean where it does most good -

Phytoplankton is responsible for more that 50% of the oxygen we breathe- whales fertilize the plankton - If the ocean dies everyone does along with it-

Please do not visit aquariums— there is nothing educational about an animal in a cage or pool- (out of their natural environment)… there are ways now especially with Virtual reality to see animals in their natural settings-

The world was not created just for humans to devour all in its path—

London Calling

My earliest memory?
The ocean, being alone a lot, living in my imagination and dreams…

How I would describe my childhood?
My Finnish Grandfather had a profound effect on me- reading fairy tales, mythology—
He spoke to trees and was a Freemason-
He encouraged my creativity- My parents were only 18 and 19 when they had me—My Grandparents were a big part of raising me-
I spoke Finnish till I was 11…

My worst habit?
I have too much energy, insatiable… a romantic… I love, love, love— I live a romantic life
Love doesn't always have to be reciprocal.
You can be in love with some one,
who loves someone else,
who loves you.
It's an energy-
Sometimes there are variations to erotic love.
It is good to love endlessly.
And, it feels good to know someone out there loves you-
It may just not be who you expect-
Sex with out love does not interest me-

Have I ever been starstruck?
Michael Jackson- When I was little I had his poster on my wall I thought we would get married— he, and when John Kennedy Jr asked me on a date—
I giggled ridiculously- when on the set of his magazine George -
I was shooting the cover wrapped only in an American Flag-  I could not concentrate at all-
and was too shy to respond.

Do I mind getting older?
I don’t really have a choice do I? …

The best advice you've ever been given?
To let go…

I would describe myself -as an influential hard working optimist -
There is always hope…
that can be helped along, by clever intentions.

I think the secret to a happy relationship/marriage?
Freedom, romance and trust

My greatest regret?
Well ,I was meant to do Broadway—
Rob Marshall and Barry Weissler asked me to play ‘Roxy’ in Chicago on Broadway- I said yes- I started rehearsals- I learned the dances, the songs _ I had an apartment ready to go in NYC- We were all working very hard-
and so excited-
My agent made it very difficult for them-
and started demanded things I had no knowledge of- - Hollywood and Broadway don’t see eye to eye— They told me they could not move forward without a strong team around me- and they were completely offended-
I was devastated— I was ready.

Is sex important to me?
Of course, and so is self exploration.. it is the key to finding our bliss—
I wish everyone beautiful sexual experiences—
I fear the world might forget how to make love in this age of instant gratification—
I’m writing a book- The Sensual Revolution-
which explores this topic in detail- It will be out this year-

Do I believe in God?
I believe that the universe validates good decisions— it’s been proven to me- so, I have come to believe— but I wasn’t raised in any religion-

The worst thing anyone has ever said to me?
Sadly here has been much- but I think I’d have to mention, reluctantly-that-
When I was with my dear friend who was dying of Cancer my ‘significant other’  at the time- was very jealous-
He said -If you don’t get home now- I’ll hire a prostitute to suck my … -and take pictures and send to you”- (his words were even more ridiculous and hurtful than this- and became a vile and shocking habit) but, you can imagine- that didn’t work out so well for him-

The closest I’ve ever come to death? is now…
I’m almost 50..

I would you like to be remembered simply,
With love and respect, not a joke or as a cartoon character.

The last time I had a good cry?
I miss my boys, my dog… I’ve been going through old photos I carry on my phone- of my kids when they were babies— it went racing by-
I travel a lot lately- it’s a confusing empty nest feeling—
My kids are grown and I’m trying to find my way again- like starting over- —
Of course, I also cry when I leave places like the refugee camps- It’s very hard to see such unfairness.. (in person)- it’s unlike the news— and, it creates such disappointment that the world is behaving in such way —

When was I happiest?
I’m happier than I’ve been in recent years—
I’m very proud of my kids—
I’m excited about my collaboration with Coco De Mer— we are very aligned—sensually- and have a lot of naughtiness up our sleeve…that we can’t wait to share— soon- very soon— our short film premieres on Feb 7th -in just a few days— shot by Rankin- genius photographer, and film maker.

I do not struggle with abnormal depression- but of course I get depressed-
I go through all my feelings— ride the wave— feel your feelings— It’s ok to have bad days— better ones are always around the corner-

My greatest achievement?
My beautiful boys of course—

My favorite directors are
Woody Allen, Sean Penn, Jim Jarmusch, Jon Waters, David Lynch, Quentin Tarantino, David LaChapelle,
and,
I’m holding out for my dear Werner Herzog project-
patience, patience…
is a virtue.-

Life, is but a dream...
